Costumes & Packing
- For costume distribution, bring a small suitcase or duffel bag to hold them. Don't forget your nude undergarments, tan tights and ballet tights!
- Cross check the various pieces against the costume list the dancers are given to ensure you have everything.
- See studio emails for further individual costume needs.
- Dresses, skirts and tutus should be hung up and protected with a garment bag or similar.
- For shows, layout costumes in the suitcase in the order of the dances (i.e. first number on top and finale on bottom).
- Consider providing large Ziploc bags to pack the costumes in after they have been worn.
- Pack makeup remover wipes, spare safety pins, hairpins, elastics and hairspray.
- Please wear your team jacket to Dance Alive shows!
- Dancers will need their own nude undergarments, tan tights and ballet tights to be worn for rehearsals and shows.
- Juniors - nude bodysuit
- Inters - either nude bodysuit or nude bra and nude underwear, per comfort level
- Seniors - nude bra and nude underwear
- There is a standardized make up kit (Kit #1 – Studio Makeup Kit) for the team to help with a more professional look on stage. See the studio for purchase inquiries. There are more comprehensive kits available that include blush, foundation, eyeliners etc. You can also purchase separate add-ons such as a setting spray, foundation, etc, or magnetic refills for individual eye colours.
- Makeup tutorials are available on the makeup site, see your studio emails for the password https://stage.bydanilea.com/invitationtodance/
- Scrape off most of the lipstick off the lip brush before applying. Too much product on the lip will prevent it from setting and will smear. You can use a clear lip liner to help with getting a good edge and/or apply with a small lip brush instead.
- All students need to wear mascara (including Juniors) and brown eye shadow across the upper lid with the white highlighter in the inside corner of the eye.
- Juniors do not wear eyeliner.
- Inters do wear eyeliner, but no cat eye.
- Seniors wear full eyeliner with cat eye.
- No false lashes.
- When braiding your child's hair, begin with damp hair that has some product in it (ideally gel). This will make a big difference in the wispy fly-aways.
- Ensure that you have a centered part and that the ends are crossed across the back of the head and tucked under the opposite braid (not beside). For long hair you can fold the end in half before crossing it over to tuck. Do not tuck the end under it's own braid.

- For show music please see your ITD parent portal.
- Please ensure you are noting the call times for shows and bringing your dancers on time.
- Please drop your dancers off and ensure they make into the facility. If you choose to stay and watch - we just ask that you stay at the back and leave seating and best views for residents or guests!
- We also ask that parents refrain from going backstage at any shows, unless they are the designated volunteer. Space is often tight and there is a lot of activity to get ready for the show.
